"More to be desired are they than gold, yea than much fine gold: sweeter also than honey and the honey comb"
Psalm 19:10
Psalm 19:10
Do you have a spiritual "sweet tooth"?
Do you have a sweet tooth? You know what I mean, every once in a while, you have to get something that is sweet and it seems to just sooth that craving you have.
The Psalmist David was known as a man after God's own heart. It is no secret that He love the Lord and he loved His Word also. In this scripture verse, David refers to the law and statutes of the LORD as being of greater value than fine gold, but he goes beyond that and says it is sweeter also than honey and the honey comb.

Honey can satisfy that sweet tooth.
Honey is something that can satisfy that sweet tooth, but not too overly sweet. But David doesn't stop with just the honey, but he says also the honey comb. The honey comb has been used for many things. The wax could be melted to form candles, used to seal a document, seal a jar and keep the contents preserved. One of the favorite things that the bees wax was used by children was to chew on. It was like gum to them. They would chew and chew until every last drop of the honey was out.
To meditate on the Word is to chew on it over and over again.
God's Word is just like that. Sometimes when you read a verse that blesses you, you can just chew on it all day long and still get the sweetness out of it. David said in Psalm 1:2, "...in His law doth he meditate, day and night." The word "meditate" means to "chew on, over and over" like a cow chewing its cud.
Does the Word of God satisfy the "Spiritual Sweet Tooth" in your life? Take time today to taste and see that the Lord is good and His Word is sweeter than the honey and the honey comb.
